Weekend Bants/#RBF(Resting Bitch Face)

Hey Guys

The weekend is upon us once again and boy am i GLAD!!!!!

I wont make this a habit...... BUT! sorry I've been away.

Life has been giving me all kinds of Up's and Downs, having said that though i cannot be any more grateful for all that i have.

This past weekend has been all kinds of surprises, so much so that i nearly passed out twice, you know that kind of excitement that just makes you wanna leave your own body like.....

This kind of way,the person on the floor being my physical and the mad runner being my mind........

Well you might ask what caused such  feelings?!
I will tell you this over and over and OVER again that when i say my siblings are AWESOME!!!, I'm not lying. So this weekend just gone past my second sister who lives in Nigeria had informed us of her hubby was coming over to handle business in the UK, which is amazing because surely she'll send some jolly jolly via her hubby for us, she never fails. All is well and good in the world and its Saturday evening, house is sparkling clean, thanks to my mother drilling the Martha Stewart spirit into us. It's evening and we're watching television and in my thoughts the brother in law should be ringing the bell any time now.

*Ding Dong* although that's not how my bell goes but whatever....

I walk myself to the door and pick up the answer-phone to ask who's at the door and its the  brother-in-law just as predicted, i am as excited as you would be when you haven't seen someone in a very long while except you're cold-hearted, I'm grinning ear to ear welcoming him through the door, however, a strange and unexpected but familiar figure is walking a couple of  steps just behind him. My brain quickly assimilates what is going on, slightly confused but at the same time in overdrive, I begin to jump up and down howling in excitement. Who is this I see? like is this even happening right now?! my sister is stood right before my koro koro eyes, the same one I'm meant to be feeling sorry for  because her boo'thang was leaving her for a whole 4 days and she was gonna be all by herself in the state that she's in. She fooled and surprised us well.
After all the jumping up and down in circles and still in shock, staring at her and hoping that it wasn't all a dream and she won't vanish into thin air, we settled in and began gisting and catching up, eating, laughing and all that good stuff. This was just the shocker for me and my mother, so you can  imagine what happened when my immediate elder sister walked though the door and went though the same emotions, picture it this way, you know how when Jesus said "it is finished" and the curtains in the temple split in half, it was that same effect, our eardrums were not at mercy, her feet could not lift off the ground any higher, unless  she would've been  flying without wings and Westlife's lyrics would be becoming a true reality, Imagine that!...lol.

Still in recovery from all this h'amazement from the night before, we get another ground breaking surprise....

It's Sunday afternoon and we've come back from church, mum is slaying it in the kitchen, cooking up some jolly jolly jollof rice and some smokin' chicken,  me, the sisters and her hubby sitting in the living room and watching TV, the door bell goes a' ringing, this time momma answer the door, i don't know what was said but she opened the door. At this point i was downing chin-chin ( for those who don't know what that is, it is a Nigerian snack) I peek my head through the living room door to see who was at the main door, Lo and Behold! who do i see?!, My brother and behind him two strange unexpected figures who live in Cardiff but are at my doorstep this very moment

Chin chin flying in the air and i feel like I'm gonna pass out, my heart is literally doing back flips, two surprises back to back, is this even life. It then begins to register that all my siblings are in the same room, this would be the first time in the LONGEST time ever that this would occur. I'm on CLOUD 9 and ain't nothing gonna break my stride, ain't nothing gonna bring me down.

We have to capture this moment but one sibling is missing as she's still out, nevertheless, after a long wait she walks through the door and the same shock catches on with her.......
It was an amazing weekend and all in all the best in the year so far and its only March!!!!!!

Recently, I started an internship at a Radio Station, as it's always been a dream of mine. The first day in i dressed up proper. Obviously wanting to make a good impression,  i decked up in my heels looking so much like a"spice" apparently i was under the impression that the shoes i wore on the Monday were comfortable, boy was i kidding myself. At first they were comfortable but then you know when you break into new shoes they feel tight , long story short, i got blisters on all of my  four toes on both feet, all this just to make a good  IMPRESSION.. Kai, but then  it was worth it as it's been amazing. My first week in and I've already sat in on a show and shared the same breathing space with Adam Richman from Man vs Food and to add to it he looks so good in person. Contributing to my happenings in the week, i was cruising through the inter web, as i always do in my idleness and  discovered this completely beautiful and  hilarious girl called Ngozi, her videos just gave me jokes and i thought i have to share this with you amazing individuals.....

In one of her video titled "Smile black girl SMILE" she talked about  RBF which means "Resting Bitch Face", which is when you're not smiling because you just have nothing to smile about or you're in your serious zone that it just looks like you're screw facing or you  just have that resting face and when someone smiles at you, you don't smile back, not because you don't want to but because it hasn't registered in your head to smile back. She also talks about how this is affecting mostly black girls and how she is constantly reminded by her friends to smile.... as racial as it may sound i believe its true, because it happens to me too...

You know sometimes when you don't smile just because or you're in a hurry and completely in your serious zone that people think you're screw facing them. I've been in that position and  honest to God I've victimised some people, but watching that video i take back some things I've said and have agreed with myself to make the extra effort to smile more often, even at people on the street because you never know what your smile can do.

Another of her videos that I absolutely love is titled Versace Versace .. it sounds like Ngozi... lol.  I can totally relate to this because i get so offended that my name is sometimes not generic that it can get put into songs like Funke, Sade, Titilope, Amaka, Kay and so on.... But recently i found out that in a song by the band The Script,  titled  "if you see kay', has somewhat something that could fit my name. In the lyrics, a line goes "Make sure you say I'm sweet FA without her", the FA part sounds like Efe, the short form of my name and that brings sweet joy to my heart and I'm gonna own that, i like that.... So any time I listen to it,  i say my name and grin sheepishly to myself. Call me weird but that's just life for me i suppose.

Lamenting over, here are  the videos, you can thank me later when you spend all your time watching her ....

Have an amazing weekend guys and PARTAY!!!.

XOXO
