IS IGNORANCE TRULY BLISS?

Watching an  episode of Being Mary Jane, the principal focus  was  a "black" high earning lawyer suffering from mental health issues in the co-operate world and facing neglect in the workplace.

This tickled  my mental neurons and got me looking at things from a different angle.
I agree the 'black' person on average suffers discrimination and second order recognition in society.
Agreed!

But could it be that we play a part in our own problems?

At work,  a colleague  of mine called me aside and said she had written a test so many times  and failed it, not because she was thick and couldn't pass, but because she might be dyslexic; she had discovered similar symptoms with her daughter and sought help. Thank God!

But not for herself.

WHY? i questioned

Her reply struck a cord with me. She was simply scared of being stigmatized, and being laughed at, being told that "African" personages suffer no such thing as learning disabilities or mental health problems.

Scared of admittedly being open with the fact that she's was an African adult suffering with a learning difficulty Not to say the least i was saddened by this.
It rubbed me the wrong way in respect to the level of insight and awareness of disorders or learning difficulties in the African society in this present day and age.

It had come to my knowledge and with evidenced research that the African man or woman in society would rather suffer in silence or seek comfort in religion, than openly admit that they experience mental disorders and seek medical support for apt aid.

Trust me when i say i am a believer ,but i think it has gone too far, so far that  the 'so called' Christian has becomes dependent  on the gospel, waiting on  a miracle; taking a back seat and waiting for God to come down from heaven and make things happen for them.
Surely, we don't believe in the same God, because, yes a little faith never hurt a soul, but so also ' faith without works is DEAD'(James 2:14-26).

The people need to be educated, and kept informed. Gone at the days of slavery, the days where the western world had the upper hand over our land and lives. We live in a world of technology, of 3D and 4D, smartphones and the most powerful of all, the INTERNET. So why don't we educate ourselves, expose ourselves to the realities of life, and stop believing that everything is down to the DEVIL at work; i believe in the supernatural, but i also believe that KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

DISCLAIMER: These are just my thoughts and observations, and you don't have to agree with them. Also i do not write this with the aim to offend anybody.

Share  yours too i would love to hear them
